Arthur Kornberg United States biochemist Arthur Kornberg won the 1959 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine. Kornberg and his colleagues produced an inactive, chemically exact molecule of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), the basic material from which genes are constructed.
