This was proved on 8 February, 1983 at San Diago, California when Arnehiston Hoodgins, an infant weighing merely 17 ounces was born eighteen weeks prior to the expected date of delivery. At the time of his birth, his mother was only 147 days (5 months) pregnant. The premature baby survived.
