The UN has six principal organs. They are the General Assembly ,theSecurityCouncil, the Economic and Social Council, the Secretariat, the International Court of Justice and the Trusteeship Council. The General Assembly deliberates on major issues. The Security Council decides certain resolutions for peace and security. The Economic and Social Council assists in promoting international economic and social cooperation and development. The Secretariat provides the information and facilities needed by the UN. The International Court of Justice is the main judicial body. The Trusteeship Council supervised theadministration of trust (non-self governing) territories. It suspended operation after the last trust territory gained its sovereignly in 1994.
