William Howard Taft who served as the President of the United States of America from 1909 to 1913 was the first premiere to pitch the opening pitch for a baseball season. Another interesting fact about President Taft is that as he was overweight -- weighing over 300 pounds. Owing to his largess, President Taft had a special bathtub installed in the White House. After serving his term as President, Taft served as the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court. That, and not the presidency had been his lifelong ambition.
